Our family considers our coming to Iowa a blessing. We were able to buy our own house, which in Filipino standard is quite big for the three of us, with a relatively low mortgage. Before we bought the house, we considered our would-be monthly bills. We knew that in order to be good transients in this country, we should not abuse the "credit card" mentality. I have no job (the visa we were given with does not allow me to work) and if we wanted to meet two of our many goals in life-- to save for the future, and at the same time, be free to travel when we want to (well, reasonably, of course) we should then follow our motto which is "to live within our means".
So, my husband and I went over with our bills. This basic list is costing us most from highest to lowest: mortgage, phone, gas and electricity, house and car insurance, water, internet, and cable TV. It shocked me that phone bill is the second of that list. So, since mom knows best (and that mom is me!), I had my iPhone canceled even though it means we would have to pay the costly early termination fees. It's a bummer, really. Now, the iPhone is sitting here, serving as a glorified iPod.
They say there's always light at the end of the tunnel. I most definitely agree! There's a new telephone company, which offers the lowest monthly rates with smart phones, everything you need package where you can call a friend anytime and unlimitedly! If I get Straight Talk, I will still be able to use a smart phone (like LG, Motorola, Kyocera, Nokia, and Samsung) without the hassle of paying too much. Aside from having great nationwide coverage, there will be no extra charges and no contracts. It would transfer the phone bill in the second to the last list, rather than it's place now which is second to the most. Well, for $45 it would include calls, text, picture messaging, and web. Here this, NO termination fees:-)
The respectable Fantasy Fishing Team is one of Straight Talk's endorsers. They must have considered their phone packages as cool as their Hook, line and sinker.
