Grey's Anatomy Season 6 - Izzy and George

I know that a lot of people would want to know the updates about katherine Heigl and T.R.Knight of Grey's Anatomy. I thought of posting this because it thrills me that there are people who read my posts just by googling the topic.

In yahoo news today, I learned that T. R. Knight would be out of season 6 (sad... we'll miss O'malley) and Katherine Heigl is still in (go Izzy!).

Seriously, the writers of Grey's revived the character of Izzy in season 5. However, George O'malley was nowhere to be seen. Not even when his bestfriend Izzy got sick or when Lexei suddenly became involved with Sloan. We all know that Lexei was attracted to George before she got hooked up with Dr. Sloan. I think the writers should focus also on the small details.

Tha last episode of season 5 was very traumatic. I mean, surely there's still a better way of wiping out O'malley's character than that.

Anyway, for the latest news about George, just click here

The BEST BEACH in America, right here in KAUA'I

It's a beautiful friday morning here in Kauai. Dubbed as the garden island, Kauai is one of the eight islands in Hawaii. It is a 25-min plane ride from Oahu, where the capital Honolulu is located. Movies and TV series (6 days and seven nights, Jurassic Park, Lost World, Outbreak, and LOST) have used this beautiful island as their setting as well as many surfing movies. And yeah, I visited most of the famous scenes:-).

Today, Hanalei Bay of Kauai was awarded as the number one beach in America. It's one of the beaches at the North Shore. We are planning to go there this weekend, to experience the raw beauty of it over again. Pictures would be posted soon:-)

From the article on ABC news...

If life is a beach, Hanalei Bay must be heaven.

'Dr. Beach' selects Hanalei Bay on Kauai as nation's best beach
(Dan Bachman/Photodisc/Getty Images)This remote, two-mile crescent-shaped beach on Kauai where the emerald mountains meet the sparkling sea was selected No. 1 on "Dr. Beach" Stephen P. Leatherman's 2009 list of top 10 beaches, which was released Friday.

Hanalei beat out other shores stretching from San Diego to Cape Cod.

"The sheer beauty of Hanalei Bay is breathtaking," said Leatherman, director of Florida International University's Laboratory for Coastal Research. "It's really an idyllic setting."

Hanalei features postcard views from every angle and is untouched by the feverish development that has transformed the coastlines of other islands. It's cherished by both locals and tourists as the perfect spot to swim, surf, snorkel or simply escape and unwind.

"It's just gorgeous," said Annie Meredith, who regularly surfs in the bay. "You've got green mountains, white sand, blue ocean — that's kind of hard to beat."

Here's the Top Ten Beaches of 2009, according to Dr. Beach:

1. Hanalei Bay, Kaua‘i

2. Siesta Beach, Sarasota, Fla.

3. Coopers Beach, Southampton, N.Y.

4. Coronado Beach, San Diego.

5. Hamoa Beach, Maui, Hawaii.

6. Main Beach, East Hampton, N.Y.

7. Cape Hatteras, Outer Banks, N.C.

8. Cape Florida State Park, Key Biscayne, Fla.

9. Coast Guard Beach, Cape Cod, Mass.

10. Beachwalker Park, Kiawah Island, S.C.

I'm back!

*It's been a long hiatus for my writer self (if it ever exists), so please excuse my anything goes style today. I've been busy since October of last year. Besides being a full time mom, I'm a full time instructor, teaching a new course that I love (Biochemistry) and working/researching on another laboratory manual, plus I needed to travel to places, both for practical reasons (that I needed stamp on my passport for a US Visa, but it's not really a requirement, I just felt I needed it) and for relaxation.

*First, my friend and I co-authored a book. It's entitled general chemistry laboratory manual and workbook for the health sciences. So I've been pretty much hooked up on meetings with the publisher, colloquium, and book launching. Okay, please don't think it's a big thing or I am writing this to be recognized, because I am so not. I just think it's important in order to stress that I really was busy.

*I also went to Hongkong on October (I've written an article about this trip here). Then at a friend's wedding in Iligan City last December, a week before we went to Hawaii. A short christmas vacation consisted of travelling to Oahu to Kauai (Oahu and Kauai are both islands in Hawaii, Oahu is where Honolulu is, and Kauai is where my husband is staying) to Oahu to Seattle to Oahu to Kauai, then back to Oahu to Philippines. Whew! Now after three months, I and my son are back here in Kauai for the summer (it's summer in the Philippines). Too bad I couldn't attach new pictures here, I'm using my husband's computer so I don't know where the files are.

* In between trips, I had to teach, to prepare the lectures, exams and manual (and some things in between), to attend to church activities, and to be Pearl--a mom, daughter, friend, relative, etc.

* After several months of not updating, I checked my blogspot. I would confess that at first I just started this blog to try to earn money while doing the thing I love, writing. I figure, I could also earn like friends, I did try, but I guess...failed. After 8 months (it's that long?) of starting this site, I earned..tada! $ 0.40!
But no regrets, this blog site introduced me to many people, some of whom I became friends with. And besides, it's nice to visit other sites. It's a learning experience.

So for now, those are the updates. I'll go visit some of my co-bloggers site now. bye:-)

Starbucks

I used to think that the Starbucks mania in the Philippines is as pretentious as it could be. Well, I still think that not all people who go there like the coffee, but just to, you know, maybe socialize, or maybe so that they'd be seen carrying the cup around (shallow right? but it happens). Nothing wrong with that though.

In the Philippines, this maybe is one of the most expensive selling coffee shops. I like coffee but not to the extent that I would go to a cafe and spend so much time and money hanging around there. Okay so this is just between you and me, but we have no coffee maker at home (I think it's too time consuming to prepare coffee with a coffee maker), so I just buy instant coffee mixes. I tried them all, different local and imported brands, but honestly, it's no big deal if I get a more aromatic or strong coffee or not. I just need the caffeine, especially when I'm working late at night.

Earlier today, I just had my third cup of Starbucks, here in Kauai, HI. Yes, just my third in all of my existence. I, my son, and hubby went there to be warm and just to fill up my hungry stomach. Yesterday was my second cup and I have just been here since Saturday (this is my 4th day). Here, going to Starbucks to drink coffee is just as normal as going to Jollibee (popular fastfood in the Phils). It's not a struggle at all. Struggle--is the word because, I often analyze this as: the minimum wage of a simple worker in the Philippines is only 300 more or less, and a cup of Starbucks coffee could be 100-150? Go figure. Anyway, I really never thought that hanging in Starbucks could be so good (of course with my family). It's not the coffee or scone or the ambiance...it's the wholeness of our family that makes it real fun.

Just to share some photos with you...

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my friends in North America! We are not traditionally celebrating a day of thanksgiving here in the Philippines (I honestly think we gotta have one though). Earlier I instructed my husband to celebrate the day, he is in a new island (what? did you just imagine a guy on a little island with a coconut tree, wearing a native hat, drinking coconut juice? lolz) and will not be going to Oahu to visit friends or to mainland to visit my in-laws.

I told him to buy himself a nice dinner, and pray intently--God gives so much, and to give praises and thanks back to HIM is all we could do.

Psalm 31:19 (NIV)

How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you.

I thank God for all the blessings!

Grey's Anatomy- Season 5 (izzie and Alex)

Alright I would admit, I watch TV, even if I have tons of other "more important things" to do. Watching my favorite TV series is my guilty pleasure. Mondays I watch Desperate Housewives, Tuesdays would be Gossip Girl night and Thursdays--Grey's Anatomy.

Grey's Anatomy is on it's 5th Season. The drama in the Hospital is as usual intense. My two favorite couples are Dr. Izzie Stevens and Dr. Alex Karev. Izzie is a sensitive type of Doctor who always takes the case personally. She has a heart. She feels for the patients. Though this character sometimes proves to be a disadvantage in their field, it would not hurt to have more Doctors who are humane. Alex, on the other hand, is a tough one, seems to be uncaring and thoughtless due to his childhood experiences. These two have had an off and on relationship, but now in Season 5, they are more open with each other's feelings. They understand each other and have been friends since the start of their internship. Until...

Izzie's ex-boyfriend, Denny (who died three years ago because of a heart disease) started to hunt her. For three episodes now, Denny has been in Izzie's imagination (but he was shown as a live ghost..whatever). Seriously! The writers should do better than that. In an article of wikipedia on grey's, it mentioned that Katherine Heigl
is speculated to be backing out of Grey's because she does not want to be known as Izzie like Jennifer Aniston as Rachel in Friends. So I was glad when I learned that Izzie is still in Season 5. Hope she would stay.

Now, I hope that this Denny thing would go away..I mean, come on Grey's writers (Hello Ms. Shonda Rhimes)!

My son's LEGO creations

My only son had his first LEGO last April when his grandmother in Seattle sent him a box which contained a LEGO Mars Mission. Since then he was hooked. He likes LEGO City, Castle and Racer. When he is bored following the patterns in the brochure of the box, he would make his own version of cars, airplanes, buildings, etc. It hones his skill and creativity. I like looking at his small hands and fingers while he work (or play). He is so passionate about it. His favorite website is of course LEGO website. I posted my first article about his toys last August in my friendster blog, entitled, a toy story.

To share with you his latest creations, I posted here some pictures. Sorry I'm not that great a photographer.
